    Hana acts for both claimants and respondents/defendants across the full range of employment and discrimination law matters. Recent instructions include:

    • Along with Claire McCann, providing written advice to a climate campaign group on the legal protections available to individuals who conscientiously object to working on projects connected with the fossil fuel industry. The advice is available to read here.

    • Successfully acting for a respondent in a four-day discrimination trial.

    • Successfully obtaining interim relief on behalf of a claimant, a migrant nurse, in connection with his claim for automatic unfair dismissal against a healthcare company. Media coverage of the case can be found here and here.

    • Successfully acting on behalf of a respondent in an application to strike out a complaint of refusal to provide services on grounds related to trade union membership.  

    • Drafting particulars of claim in a claim for race discrimination, sex discrimination and breach of contract.

    • Along with Schona Jolly KC, providing written advice to a charity on the discrimination law implications of intended internal staff resources.  

    Hana has a particular interest in the intersection between employment law and human rights, having obtained a master’s degree in human rights law with distinction from LSE.

    Personal injury and clinical negligence

    Hana accepts instructions from claimants in personal injury and clinical negligence matters. During her pupillage, she received training in drafting schedules of loss for high-value catastrophic injury claims.

    Prior to Cloisters

    Prior to joining Cloisters, Hana worked in the Court of Appeal as a judicial assistant to Lord Burnett of Maldon, then Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales. She worked on a wide range of appeals, including Mercer v Alternative Future Group [2022] EWCA Civ 379,which concerned the compatibility of s.146 of the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992 with Article 11 of the European Convention on Human Rights.  

    Hana is a fluent Welsh speaker. She welcomes instructions from all parts of the UK, including Wales.

Hana joined Cloisters in October 2024 following the successful completion of her pupillage. She accepts instructions across all of Chambers’ core practice areas.

Hana is frequently on her feet and appears regularly in the Employment Tribunals. She combines this with a strong paperwork practice, spanning both drafting and advisory work.

Hana has excellent interpersonal skills and is a persuasive and strategic advocate.
