Professional DIscipline
Cloisters has a strong track-record in disciplinary and regulatory work at all levels and in a wide variety of sectors. Our barristers are particularly well-placed to draw on the overlap between this field and our other core areas of practice.
Members of chambers appear regularly in health-care disciplinary and regulatory settings such as the NMC, GMC, HCPC and GDC, drawing on their knowledge and expertise in clinical settings. Cloisters also has significant expertise in the education setting representing teachers and headteachers in TRA professional conduct hearings.
A number of our barristers have sat as Chairs and Legal Assessors on panels such as the Police Appeals Tribunal and GMC Fitness to Practise Panel.
A large number of our barristers also accept instructions to act for both employees or employers in internal disciplinary hearings as well as acting as chairs or advisors to internal panels or as independent investigators. Our employment expertise is invaluable in this setting and makes Cloisters an excellent choice for providing assistance with sensitive or complex internal matters.
