Emma Darlow Stearn shortlisted for Young Pro Bono Barrister of the Year Award 2025

Cloisters is delighted to announce that Emma Darlow Stearn has been shortlisted from 60 nominees for Advocate's Young Pro Bono Barrister of the Year Award 2025.

This recognition highlights Emma's exceptional dedication to providing pro bono legal assistance to those in need. Emma has worked a total of 351 pro bono hours since the start of her second six as a pupil in April last year.

Emma's pro bono contributions have been instrumental in numerous cases and appeals. Emma has advised on claims across the full spectrum of employment and discrimination law, drafted multiple schedules of loss, prepared for three final hearings and negotiated four favourable settlements. Emma has successfully represented three appellants in the EAT pro bono — twice as sole counsel and led by Chris Milsom in the landmark whistleblowing appeal Dr Nigel MacLennan v The British Psychological Society (Protect and The Charity Commission intervening) [2024] EAT 166.

We are incredibly proud of Emma's achievements and wish her the best of luck at the awards ceremony, which takes place on 6 May 2025.
