First COVID Inquiry report published today

The first report of the COVID–19 Inquiry chaired by Baroness Hallett was published on Thursday 18th July, see here. This report, in module 1 of the Inquiry, concerned the state of the United Kingdom’s resilience and preparedness over the 11 years prior to the start of the pandemic in 2020, and what lessons should be learnt in preparing for future civil contingencies.

Cloisters’ Robin Allen KC represented the Local Government Association and the Welsh Local Government Association, both of whom were core participants in module 1. The report recognised the key role of local government in civil contingencies, and the need to strengthen and support that role.

Robin also represents the Associations in further modules which will report in the future as the Inquiry proceeds.
